The 1st Australian UK Biobank Research Symposium will be held in-person on February 7 and 8, 2024, at The University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. The goal of the Symposium is to showcase a unique research resource that is available for researchers around the world, through the presentation of cutting-edge research across multiple disciplines.

The UK Biobank is a prospective study and trail-blazing research resource of 500,000 individuals from the United Kingdom with dense health, lifestyle, genomic, imaging and biomarker data. It is longitudinal and continuously growing in data richness. The UK Biobank currently has about 3,500 ongoing research projects from Principal Investigators around the world.

We are delighted to have two keynote speakers from the University of Oxford: Professor Sir Rory Collins, CEO of the UK Biobank and Thomas Nichols, Professor of Neuroimaging Statistics and Associated Head of the Big Data Institute. In addition to their talks, the Symposium will have contributed talks (selected from submitted abstracts) and posters.

The Symposium will be preceded by a UK Biobank Instruction Day on Tuesday February 6th, where participants will learn how to navigate the UK Biobank data resource and how to perform large-scale analyses in epidemiology, genomics and imaging.

We welcome you all to Brisbane in the summer!
